Playing online - Best platform?

So, I'm starting to play around with this, and running into a small issue.  I love the suggestion from twoeyedjack that GMs make use of index cards to track objectives, and I'm wanting to make active use of that.  However, I'm not sure what the best way to run a game online using this system would be.

What do people think the best application to use for such a direction is?

Tabletop simulator has index cards in the tools section as well as a selection of dice

I've had a lot of success using google-doc-shared spreadsheets and IRC to run roleplaying games (mostly Fate/Dresden).

I have been using discord with the shared video bit to show images. Not as good as playing in person but it will do.
