I have no idea what that says, and I converse with Ronway, who only ever says the word "Awesome" (but can convey so many different things with that single, simple word).

EDIT: Ha! This was not mean to happen, but I'll leave it here for the fun of the recurrsion!

Pahahahahahahahahahah!

EDIT: A-ha! I've had a fun idea.

25 cuteness points I'll spend on this,

So four successive plays occur, not three.

Oh boy. Yep, this is a global effect.

Last time I saw someone play a value tripler, scores ended up in scientific notation.  This will be... interesting.

(Sorry for the delay, it's McBehrer's turn now)

Silly Match-3 Game being played four times

In succession does rather amuse me.

(Also, I think that I may be about

To bring this game to something of a close...)

so, what happens if I use Elan on this card play? would that transfer all four effects to one player, just the two that hit me, or only one of them?

Yeah, I know this is another -60 points, but actually want an answer hence the more coherent post. Normal madness will be resumed shortly.

Since Elan was played before the card quadrupler, there is only one of him. However, I think that since only the EFFECTS are applied 4x, there is still just one card being played, with four targets. Two of these targets are you. Therefore, you may "redirect" that singular card, which I guess means reapplying all its effects as you see fit! If any of the card authors want to clarify on this, that'd be great. For now, let's go with this, though.
(Also, you don't need to put "ub" before silent "e"s in Ubbi Dubbi. Just the vowels that make sounds.)

Okay, I don't want to slow down the game, so you have to make a decision on who gets the redirected card, if anyone, in 3 hours from the time this is posted. You've had plenty of time already to respond. Otherwise, I'll just assume nobody gets it and you take both applications.

EDIT: Aaaaand time's up! Sorry, Mezike, I gotta move the game along. Looks like Elan stays where he is for now.

Recap Time!

BlueHairedMeerkat turned up the heat on McBehrer with a fiery jinx that ruined his keyboard. Mezike turned up the insanity on a global level with some recursive engineering, which Meerkat's magical girl enhanced to a whopping QUADRUPLE-THE-EFFECTS-ON-ALL-FUTURE-CARDS CARD! McBehrer was quadruply-confused at first, but soon got the hang of it and distracted Silverleaf and Mezike with an addictive puzzle game, twice each.

Status:

The deck has 16 cards remaining.

All players must make at least 1 train or smashing-related pun on their turns, or take a 500-point penalty. Each additional pun after the first is worth 100 points.

All cards played have their effects applied 3 4 times in succession.(+1)

BlueHairedMeekat has 407 points, plus 1000 points that mean nothing, 125 Cuteness Points, 34 deer teeth, and a hand of 5 cards

-Can cast a spell if he discards a card instead of playing one., spells are

-Is holding an Infernal Pact of Power granting an extra card play to anyone who chooses to sign it and refrain from using negative cards on him.

-Can spend 25 Cuteness Points to change some quantity on a just-played card by +1 or -1, once per round., 700HP

-Must type in iambic pentameter or lose 50 points.

Mezike has -200 points plus 1000 points that mean nothing and a hand of 0 cards

-Can redirect a card from himself to another player, then send Elan to that player.

-Must insert "ub" before every vowel sound or lose 60 points.

-Has lost his next 2 turns.

McBehrer has 466 points plus 1000 points that mean nothing, 4 internets, and a hand of 2 cards

-Has signed the Infernal Pact of Power.

-Can't use the i, j, k, or l keys.

Silverleaf has -600 points plus 1000 points that mean nothing and a hand of 7 cards

-Cannot have a score exceeding 0.

-Will gain 400 pts at the end of the game.

-Can ask the GM 1 question each round( in a PM or in a post) and get an almost-accurate answer., 1000HP

-Has lost her next turn.

Okay.

Right, my turn! I plan to build up such a head of steam this turn that typing in iambic pentameter would get restrictive and annoying, so I'll take the -50. SO, I shall discard Attempted Murder to summon the game-ending monster that is Ronway:

So, I shall retrieve the top three cards of the discard pile and play them. First, I shall put down Wait, What?

That nets me four internets, but I really don't plan to stop there. Next up, the card I just discarded:

And I'm going to pile all of those on McBehrer (sorry McBehrer, I swear I'll even it out later). And, finally, my piece de resistance:

Again, all dropped on McBehrer, so he misses his next four turns (sorry). But am I done? Am I heck! Because now I get to use the effect of Summon Ronway THREE MORE TIMES :D

Four internets for me.

-2000 points for Silverleaf.

Another -1200 for Silverleaf, and she misses her next five turns (counting the one McBehrer already played).

And again! :D

In the interests of spreading the love, I shall give an internet to each of my compatriots as well as myself with this play.

-2000 to Mezike.

And another -1200, and a total of six turns missed (and yes, you could certainly Elan one of these onto me, but I'm still missing fewer turns than the rest of you, and having checked with Alex I can tell you that it's next turn I'd miss, not the rest of this one [not that that matters all that much...]).

Once more, with FEELING!

My internets. Mine.

Two to McBehrer, one to Silverleaf, one to Mezike.

Two to McBehrer, one to Mezike, one to Silverleaf.

Wizard training; it's really quite powerful :D

So, assuming no Elaning, I make that:

  • +50 points and 13 internets to me.
  • -4000 points, +1 internet and another five turns missed to Mezike and Silverleaf.
  • -4800 points, +1 internet and six turns missed to McBehrer.

And I can pull off this combo on every single one of my future turns...

It was more of a huge combination of cards that caused it, rather than the spellbook alone. What are the odds that this combo will ever appear again?

Well Beginner's Spellbook and Recursive Engineering have to appear before Silly Match-3 Game (or another miss-a-go card), and Summon Ronway has to be one of the spells that appears under Beginner's Spellbook, so... pretty damn low.

Yes, you're right. It was a result of no singular card. The combined silliness and imagination of everyone who contributed cards to the game just sort of implodes in on itself after a while. Though I think the card quadrupler was the biggest factor. Things always seem to get really crazy when something like that comes out.

Final Recap

BlueHairedMeerkat the wizard achieved ultimate power upon the completion of his seventh turn when he summoned Ronway one final time, or rather, four times in succession! And on each of those four appearances, he pulled out three cards and applied their effects four times, making the card play thrice-hexadecatupled! And I'm not even sure if that's a real word! In a flurry of ancient magic and forgotten ongoing effects, every player but him lost at least 4000 points and FIVE turns. The cause? An attempted gathering of dark avians took a turn for the Hitchcockian and everybody was too busy playing some silly puzzle game to even notice the mere Meerkat magically manipulating his master machination!

But! Silverleaf will be pleased to know that the date she was supervising ended happily, and she got just enough compensation for it to tie with Mezike for second place.

Awesome game, everyone!

Endgame:

The deck had 15 cards remaining.

1st place- BlueHairedMeerkat   (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚

BlueHairedMeekat has 457 points, plus 1000 points that mean nothing, 125 Cuteness Points, 34 deer teeth, 13 internets, and a hand of 5 cards.

2nd place- Silverleaf and Mezike

Mezike has -4200 points plus 1000 points that mean nothing, 1 internet, and a hand of 0 cards

Silverleaf has -4200 points plus 1000 points that mean nothing, 1 internet, and a hand of 7 cards

3rd place- McBehrer

McBehrer has -4334 points plus 1000 points that mean nothing, 5 internets, and a hand of 2 cards

Thanks to everyone here for playing this silly little game. To tell you the truth, I really needed it since I took a leave of absence from college( bottom line is that depression is dumb) and haven't been able to see any of my friends. This gave me something fun to do with other humans, and it was really nice. Thanks for making this game awesome!

Oh, I'm definitely doing this again if I can get together enough people. Probably gonna be away for a bit (seeing relatives and etc. for Christmas), but until then, there are two meantime-type things.

The first is, who here is interested in playing a new game? I'm totally up for it, either as the GM again or as a player if someone else wants to try running the game.

The second thing is the traditional 1000 Blank White Cards epilogue, where we discuss what we all thought of the cards we saw. What cards did you love? What cards weren't really that fun? Those less-than-fun cards will not be carried over to the next game like the rest of them will.

I would like to play, unfortunately I won't be able to break out my mad stick figure paint skills because I'm on a Chromebook until my real computer gets fixed (possibly in an alternate timeline) and there doesn't seem to be a paint program that isn't either dumb or refuses to save in a decent format.

Grr.

I really liked a lot of the cards:

Elan (who doesn't like him?)

Attempted Murder (still has me smiling)

Beginner's Spellbook

Ah, Satan sees Natasha:  Palindromes are always winners.  Always.

I'm much less a fan of cards that get complicated without a way of getting rid of them.  I'm cool with difficult and obnoxious effects, just give people a way to get out of it if they want.

I feel like maybe The Curse of Being Generally Shite is a little too harsh. Can't have a positive score for the rest of the game unless something destroys it? We only have two cards that allow you to remove other cards from play( not counting the Spellbook) both of them cards I added in during the game using discarded blanks. If it weren't an ongoing effect it wouldn't be so bad, but a card that sets your score to 0 and keeps it there indefinitely is just kicking someone when they've already lost everything. Anyone mind if I leave that one out in future games?

I was worried that I'd made the Infernal Pact too open-ended, but I was glad to see it work well and not get abused. And if it does get abused, the GM can always veto the proposal. The Pact did exactly what I wanted it to, and even contributed to Meerkat's win( he might've still won without the protection from McBehrer it granted, but not as quickly for sure)

I'm also glad the Beginner's Spellbook generated spells that were neither useless nor overpowered( well, on their own, anyway.)

All the speech-impeding cards were pretty entertaining. I'd like to complement Meerkat on his elegant posts in iambic pentameter. Let's just hope nobody is unlucky enough to have more than one of those sorts of cards played on them at a time.

Nubo? UbI thubink ubelsewubise,

Thubat cubould bube qubuite fubun :P

Games I've played tend to have more card destruction, hence the Curse of Being Generally Shite, so go ahead and remove it.

I like most of the cards, (particularly the Spellbook), though I'm always wary of things like Forest, or Wait, What?, or The Only Way is Ronway (sorry Ronway) that don't actually do anything... I'd also possibly remove Carbon Dating, since that card's effect got a bit awkward in a game with different rules. I'd also call for a removal of Ah, Satan Sees Natasha if Anna's not playing :P

Oh, and I'm totally in for the next game :D

Wheee!

Sorry I was a little absent toward the end there, I've been pretty hectic with a change of employment and some other RL distractions. That was fun, and making the cards was as much a pleasure as the rest of it. Definitely up for another game, would be fun to have a bigger crowd onboard although I don't know what is considered practical for this game.

In review I guess I should start by picking over my own cards. The ones that I liked for their effects as much as the fun of them were "Dammit, Ronway!", "Recursive Engineering", and "Redacted". Each of them is also a forum in-joke, which is kind of fitting. "Wait, what" is probably a one trick pony so I'm ambivalent about it. I'd be happy to toss the "RaRaRa!" card cos I don't see why it would ever be played and it's a bit clunky.

Some cards that didn't come out: "Son Jaliscience" I think could be funny although might wear thin after one game. "Citizen Fudge" - oh, it's a shame that one didn't come up as it was my favourite one to make, but the game effect is weak so it might just sit in someone's hand. "Flock of Seagulls" and "Flip Flop" were late additions and I think they could be interesting when they come into play - but the rest of mine can safely be ditched.

As for other people's cards, I liked the spell book but it can be harsh. I don't know if maybe it should work as one-shots instead, but then I guess we could have written a bunch of blank cards that would have made it go away if we were being more gamey about things. The train puns got a bit samey post after post so might work better as a one shot - I liked that it was another forum in joke, but it's the kind of thing that is better when it is natural rather than forced. Elan was good although I didn't want to part with him! The mess-up-the-way-you-talk cards were great too. The Natasha card is a little specific, i'm not sure if it would work again. Dead rise was good, as was the Infernal Pact (although the way Meerkat played it was good enough to outright be a card in it's own right).

The only one that I really wasn't sure about was the signature curse thing. Nobody really seemed to be comfortable with it, so I dunno, cutting into personal space a little or something. Like if you were playing in RL and put in a card saying 'Wear your pants on your head' or something and nobody would really take it seriously. Sorry man. Still, we made something fun with it in the game so it's all cool.

Oh, and I now also have a personal attachment to Friend Tree Steve. He may not have done much but he was always there for me, during the high times and the low. The card I was most paranoid would come out was something that dispelled magic cards which would then be taken too literally. Fortunately, he made it through to the end, so I will happily rest in my tree blowing raspberries at Meerkat and his ultra game breaking combo magic skillz.

I second this.

So you're Happy with your Tree Friend?* XD

Yeah, I wasn't sure whether to include the forum signature virus card in the deck when I was assembling it because signatures are kinda personal and making someone change one felt like it could be crossing the line. In the end, I just decided to keep it in and see how people reacted. Silverleaf's reaction was amusing and Meerkat's solution to it was clever, but I agree, I don't think we need to keep it.

That Spellbook card went through a whole bunch of iterations, and I wasn't sure how to get a good balance of usefulness with restraint. I think at one point the book made you pick a spell at random and hope it was the one you wanted to cast, but that didn't seem good enough. Plus the good-ness of the card depends heavily on what spells you actually get.

I am, of course, going to keep the cards that didn't get used yet.

*I don't really like Happy Tree Friends, but I had to make that joke.

I'd love to spectate the next game as well.  I'm afraid I don't have the time or desire to actually play.

Do good, I? No! Evil anon I deliver, I maim nine more hero men in Miami, sanitary sword a-tuck, carol I. Lo! Rack, cut a drowsy rat in Aswan. I gas nine more hero men in Saginaw. Reviled I, Nona, live on. I do... o, God!

I'll be sitting this one out methinks, but please feel free to use the rest of my cards.

McBehrer is the sole winner of this game... And McBehrer, I would step carefully should you find your way down dark alleys. More than one vote said simply, "McBehrer must die."

McBehrer confirmed to be Biomancer!

Did anyone else want to try GMing this time? I guess it's easiest if I continue doing it since I've got all the files and I don't mind it, but if another is interested I'll gladly be a player this time around.

That was very silly and fun, and I'm definitely up for another game.

I'll have a think about which cards I liked and which I didn't when I'm a bit more awake.

Just assume I'm always doing that.

Damn it, Ronway!

I'm in, if it is cool that I can't make visual images of cards.
