Greater Than Games is hiring again! This time, in what may be our trickiest hire yet, we are hiring a Social Media Manager. We need an ebullient and upbeat professional with an expert level understanding of social media and a deep passion for establishing and building a digital relationships with our community.

Job Summary: We are seeking a full time Social Media Manager to digitally promote our brand while engaging with our customers. We have a deeply passionate and engaged fanbase and we need someone who can match their enthusiasm and provide information and customer service via a wide variety of digital channels, from email and Kickstarter to Twitter and even Snapchat. Our Social Media Manager will be the voice of Greater Than Games to many audiences, including customers, potential customers, journalists, and industry professionals. They will receive constant questions and comments about our products and services, both positive and negative, and must be able to enthusiastically answer them in an appropriate manner.

The ideal candidate must be intimately familiar with Greater Than Games’ brand, products, and community so that they can do quick, surface-level troubleshooting. They may not be familiar with our products, community, and brand when they first read this job posting, but they should be sufficiently industrious and self-motivated to become knowledgeable and passionate about all three by the time they apply.

We will begin the interview process in early November, with the intent to complete the hiring process by late November.

You’ll be working with the GTG team to:

  • Develop a social media strategy and set goals to increase brand awareness and engagement
  • Create, maintain, and execute a social media editorial calendar and posting schedule
  • Conduct, gather, and analyze market research to determine social media opportunities and competitiveness
  • Identify, interpret, and capitalize on social media trends
  • Manage all social media channels
  • Manage customer service, including email, Kickstarter, web forums, etc.
  • Initiate and participate in online conversations across a variety of channels including Facebook Groups, Reddit, BoardGameGeek, DakkaDakka, the Greater Than Games forum, and other hobby forums.
  • Write content and plan delivery using whichever social media management platform you prefer
  • Develop and nurture partnerships with influencers targeted toward key customer segments
  • Facilitate social media communities by responding to posts and developing discussions
  • Utilize social listening tools to monitor online conversations
  • Route and escalate issues to the appropriate personnel within Greater Than Games
  • Monitor and report on performance on social media platforms
  • Educate other staff on the use of social media and promote its use within Greater Than Games
  • Develop benchmark criteria to measure the effectiveness of social media programs and implement improvements as required

The basic skills and attributes we’re looking for include:

  • Extremely well developed conversation skills and empathy on social media
  • Strong analytical, planning, forecasting, and research skills
  • A vivacious and overwhelmingly positive personality, even in the face of online negativity
  • Proficient with social listening tools such as Hootsuite, TweetDeck, SocialBlade, and Google Alerts
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • The ability to maintain up-to-date technical knowledge and skills in the field of social media
  • Flexibility to serenely deal with rapidly changing schedules, deadlines, and priorities
  • Ability to work well both independently and collaboratively

Mandatory technical requirements; if you don’t have these, it isn’t worth your time to apply:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, social media, marketing, or equivalent years of experience
  • Expert level command of social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter
  • Expert level command of office software, including Google Docs
  • A willingness to relocate to the St. Louis, MO area

The ideal candidate would also have:

  • A love of tabletop gaming
  • A passion for and familiarity with our products and brand

  • Starting Salary: $3,000/month, or commensurate with experience
