cool.  Just needed the dodgeball specific rules for creative purposes.

I'm guessing we are suspending penalties for too many players on the court and the court size isn't going to be smaller than at least one player.

General rules:

Touching the opposite side of the court makes you out.

A ball is live once it has been thrown across the center line, and stays live until it hits the ground, walls or is caught.  Standard deflection rules have a ball live after deflection, so still catchable and able to get a player out, same after hitting a player.  A catch means thrower is out and catching team gains a player (or player is saved if ball bounces off of them and is then caught)

How do we deal with non-physical players?

For example can visionary throw a ball with her mind?  Can Omnitron interpolate a ball and have it count as a catch, or throw?

I will leave that up to each player, so as not to restrict certain characters. My suggestion, use it as a point of contention. Have the other team protest the game because of cheating.

I don't have access to the spreadsheet while I'm at work, and can't quite remember who was picked. If no one's called Matriarch, I'll go ahead and take her. Her armies of birds will make excellent shields.

Now that GtG is back from PAX, I should probably officially ask: GtG, you mind deciding the winner of the final round?

I could be an arbiter, certainly. This is all going to be free-form description, correct? I will be judging based on how all of your handle your descriptions and such?

Yep, and essentially choosing which description is true and reflects what actually happens. We are almost done with drafting, and then the fun begins. There are 8 teams, so there should be 3 rounds, right? (8 -> 4 -> 2). We will have the community vote on the first two rounds, but GtG will pick the grand champion.

I will take Baron Blade. He'll set up some impulsion beams at the edge of the play area to keep balls from getting near.

Whoops. True enough. I'll go Vengeance. He's a little more hands on there.

Woohoo! Only 2 left! Meerkat then Matchstickman.

Once that is done, I will randomly create a bracket and post the full teams. Once that is done, I will give everyone a few days to write how they think the match went. Then we can vote! I can't wait!

Can you give a full list of rules as well.  I'm still not fully clear on it.

Sure, after the drafing is finished, I am going to post the bracket that say which team is playing which. As an example, let's say you were paired with Nielzabub. The match would then be between the following characters:

AA, Mr. Fixer, NM, Sentinels, and Tachyon VS AZ, Akash'bhuta, Chariman, Naturalist, and Voss

Taking the teams into account, you will describe what happened in the match, and how your team was victorious. The method you use to describe the match is up to oyu, be creative. For example, you could just write a description like the F5 vs PW thread, or have a post game announcement where the coach is describing what happens. This is completely up to you on the approach you want to take, just make sure you describe how the match actually went.

The basic rules of dodgeball is that there are two times one each side, and you can't cross over. If you throw a ball and hit someone, that player is out. If they catch it, you are out and one player from the other team comes in. The game ends once an entire team is eliminated.

Now, these are the basic rules, which you can adhere to like a real or serious match, but you don't have to. For example, you can use Expatriette's Hair Trigger Reflexes to quickly catch a ball, or you can use it so that she pulls out a gun, shoots the ball, then catches it as it slowly falls to the floor. What type of game is up to you, the goal is creativity. Some other examples, Voss can use his minions as protection, then use Forced Deployment as a jailbreak to get them back.

Once you have finished your narrative, PM it to me. Once all of them are in, I will post everything. For each game (there will be 4), there will be two versions, written by two different people. The community will vote on which version they feel is the real one. The team with the most votes will move on to the next round by creating another story with the new match up.

Any other questions?

A team isn't complete without at least one Redhead, so K.N.Y.F.E. is the pick. Also stabbing dodgeballs should be useful.

So far, I have gotten 2/8 of the descriptions. This is just a reminder in case somebody forgot. wink

I haven't forgotten. I just haven't taken the time yet. My creative time has been dedicated to writing up rules and preparing a prototype for a game.

Completely forgot about that. At this point, if a character has more than one card for your team or your opponents, pick which one you want in your description.
