Any Information?

Hello, I have bought many products concerning Sentinels of the Multiverse and the RPG recently caught my attention. I have been looking around for information but I've only found the basics, like how it was in the process (possibly still). Is there a link I can go to for more information? Or is someone willing to answer some questions about the RPG for me?

Some questions I have:

I have noticed that the RPG has been in creation process. Has it been completed or is it still being worked on?

If it is completed, what would I need to do to obtain more information?

If not, any idea on when it would be completed?

So ya, any and all information would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advanced

Ventor

It's still being worked on, as far as most of us know. I think some of the playtesters have access to it and there's been some demos at some conventions, but other than that I think you know just as much as the common forumite.

Nope, the GTG playtesters really don't have access to it. There are a group of GMs who are working directly with GTG (from what I have derived from social media posts and such), but the GTG playtesters haven't seen anything on this for a very long time.

From what they've shared (I couldn't find the link, but I know it's out there somewhere), they're going to have a starter kit available at Gen Con, so we'll see something in the coming months! laugh

Ah, I though you guys had something. Pardon me on that one.

There's also a few images of charactersheets floating around, if that interests you ventornado.

We have all the publicly available information.  Back when this first started we got an extremely early alpha look, which was mostly Christopher putting the characters into a skeleton of the system that I assume was to give the RPG writers (who are not GtG) a sense of how the Multiverse should work and power sets for key characters.

That is out of date, as is a lot of the really early stuff that we gathered from the publicly available information.

It is key to remember that GtG is not the primary writer of the game, and the game system is not Christopher's.  This is a system already in existence that is re-skinning and being reworked to better fit Sentinel Comics.

The people in charge of it are good people, and from publicly available information there is collaboration going back and forth and testing from not us.

I assume we are being left out of the loop because OblivAeon is front and center job #1 Ultra right now.  We are all really excited to get to try the RPG out, but we aren't as important to that process as we are to OblivAeon, so I assume we won't see anything until it is ready to go, OblivAeon is finished and they say "here, try this and see what you think."

At that point we'll test the heck out of it from a Sentinels comics fan perspective.

Again this is all my opinion, and not official.  We know work is going into the RPG, we know we are busting our butts to get OblivAeon to the printers, we know that another company and other testers are heavily involved in the RPG process, and Christopher is involved as well, but not to the level he is on OblivAeon right now.

My thoughts are that the RPG guys know what they are doing, and Christopher gave them a lot of Sentinels comics story and an alpha build to work from, and communication since then.  The product that comes to us when OblivAeon is wrapped up shouldn't need a lot of balancing, it will benefit from our fan-first perspective.

The playtesters will be seeing SC RPG stuff soon, but not until OblivAeon is done!

Let me add - I've known, indirectly, the guys doing the mechanical stuff for the RPG for years. They're Good People, and they'll do right by Sentinel Comics lore and fans.

I'll also add that I feel that more than half of us have no idea how to playtest a pen/paper RPG. I've never played one before and would have no idea what to do or how to give input and I don't believe I'm the only PTer in the same boat. Maybe this is best left for the PT forum, idk, but I think a bulk of the work on this will be done outside of these forums, at least thats how I see it playing out.

I think it should be as with other playtesting materials: Those interested and able can and will take it by the reins and run with it. Some of us have decades of experience running a variety of RPGs, and are seriously (if quietly) chomping at the bit! cool

My bit is getting worn...

That said, RPG books are mostly reading material for me, as my group games severely infrequently.

That's new.  Last time I checked, Christopher said otherwise (also here).  I didn't recognize the system in the character sheet previews, but I hardly know all the RPG's out there.

It's not strictly a re-skinning, as I understand it - but I think that Cam, Dave, and Phil are starting with the bones of Marvel Heroic.

With the changes they've made, it might only be the marrow of the original system that's left...

Very possible. I trust those three to do right by the feel of the card game and the lore from the Letters Page. Only folks I might trust more are Clark & Amanda Valentine, and that's a coin toss call.

(And the Valentines are part of our team as well! Amanda is our Editor, and Clark is doing a TON of writing for the book and the starter kit. We love the Valentines!)

Somehow, I missed that in the announcement way back.

I've known Clark & Amanda electronically for years, but finally met her and MR while I was at Gen Con Saturday with my son last year. Have written a half-dozen or so "parents' guides" for her reads4tweens web site, as well.

Awesome! Mary Rose will be GMing a few of our SC RPG sessions at Gen Con, actually! She's great.

I still reflexively refer to the younger female Valentine as MR, just plain because that's what her parents did for so long on Twitter (combination character limit & privacy). Similarly, my kids online are The Grasshopper & The Munchkin, although each of those are longer than their actual names (which have 3 and 5 letters, respectively).

In any event - I'm excited to see the finished product. Life has not given me the ability to have a good, stable game group since having gotten married to a non-gamer, and despite being divorced I've been more focused on trying to remain employed (especially in the last month or so) - graduate degree kept contributing to a series of one-year teaching gigs, and the worst clash of outlook & communication styles I've ever had with a colleague just bounced me from what I thought was going to be the long-term solution.

As a playtester I am excited!

I am ready to playtest this, even have a group together. I took all the Heroes they showed and the very primitive play test we got so far to make new Heroes. I told everyone that this is a play test and we will be redoing the heroes once they release it. It is a very interesting system and I am enjoying it alot. It is a very Naritive drivien game. It has become my favorite RPG system.

There are a few Images on the internet of all the Heroes they showed at cons (link below), and  there is aYoutube video with Christopher explaining the game.

I am hyped!

Hmm, thanks for sharing! Super interesting!

I love how the Wraith's Powers (stats, really) aren't very high. Compared to Tachyon's all 8s and 10s, she's got a few 6s... but then when you look at where she's put training into, Qualities, she's through the roof! Great representation of the drive they talked about in their Letters Page on her.

I'm surprised that no one has said anything about the recent GTG newsletter that revealed the release of the Sentinels Comics RPG Starter Kit.

They talk about how the kit will be comprised of a sum total of thirteen booklets, the first being a 'how to play/how to run an adventure' guide for both players and GMs.

The next six booklets are pre-made character folios for the Freedom Five and Unity, and will give you all the info you need to learn how to play that character and how the character sheet info is relevant to the game.

The last six books will be episodic game adventures with an over-arching plot, picking up right in the middle of the aftermath of the SotM card game. Each will act as a complete issue of a comic book, each one introducing useful game mechanics.

The Sentinels Comics RPG Starter Kit will be for sale August 2017 for $19.95.

Posting here rather than making a new thread seems to make more sense, but do we know yet when the Kickstarter will go live? I know it's around GenCon, but will it start with GenCon or just before?

The space/time continuum was broken when I got here. Honest.

The Kickstarter actually won't be for a few months (probably early next year). However, the Starter Kit for the RPG will be available for sale shortly after Gen Con!

It was supposed to be around GenCon, but that's because it's going to be after OblivAeon ships, which was supposed to be then.

I think that even if OblivAeon shiped around GenCon delaying the RPG kickstarter till after christmas is a good idea, cause then >G's target audience will have more disposable income. I know i will,

Yeah, that was largely the issue with the Season 2 videogame kickstarter -- it came right on the heals of OblivAeon's kickstarter, where many people had already spent a large sum of money, and was asking largely the same audience for even more.
